“contact ceramics” is a social practice art project by Jay and Rie.

Ceramics have the unique potential to create a point of contact between people. The power of these interactions among objects creates a lasting link to the emotions of that interaction.

We want to create such contact ceramics. And in doing so invite you to share in those contact points with us. Challenging us all to build a tighter community bound with empathy and tenderness for ourselves and others.

陶芸は、人々の間の接触点を作成できるユニークな可能性を秘めています。相互作用の可能性と力を含むオブジェクトには、その相互作用から生まれた感情と共に、人々の間に永続的なリンクを作成します。

私達は陶芸でそのような接触点を作っていこうとしています。皆さんとも接触点を共有し、どんどんつながっていきたいと考えています。私達が理想とする、自分自身と皆さんの為の、共感する力と優しさに満ちた緊密なコミュニティ作りを一緒に挑戦してみませんか？

Each can is available for $100. $50 of which will be donated to the Sacramento Food Bank (where our project is currently showcased) , creating an open link between you and us and the members of this community who need some help to get by. For you, as an individual, the can exists as a reminder that this contact has been made. As a group, they exist as a foundation, establishing a common ground where we begin to build a community through continual action.
